Transforming Spaces and Creators
Community Development
From a mural program revitalizing downtown Greeley to the establishment of an art gallery and other community-focused projects, throughout my career I’ve been passionate about fostering connections, empowering local talent, and driving cultural and economic cultivation. Community development initiatives demonstrate how creative collaboration has the power to transform public spaces and foster creative growth. These efforts demonstrate my commitment to using human-centered approaches to create vibrant and inclusive communities.
Building a Mural Program for Downtown Greeley
In 2009 with a group of creatives, I embarked on a project to create a mural on 16th Street in Greeley, Colorado. What began as a single artistic endeavor quickly grew into a foundational model for community revitalization and creative engagement.
Teaching Rapid Prototyping to Career-Changers
I’ve taught rapid prototyping to career-changers and emerging designers at Parsons School of Design, General Assembly, and the University of Northern Colorado, helping them quickly turn ideas into testable concepts. Through hands-on exercises and real-world case studies, I build skillsets in rapid prototyping, iteration, and gathering user feedback, equipping students with the practical skills needed for UX and product roles.
Kickstarting a Local Gallery for Artists
In collaboration with Bandwagon Magazine, I kickstarted a local gallery, creating a space for emerging artists to showcase their work. Through monthly exhibitions, we provided students with the opportunity to display their art while learning how to curate and organize their own shows. This initiative not only highlighted local talent but also empowered artists to take ownership of their creative journeys.
Initiating the Denver Chapter of Ladies that UX
As a co-organizer for the Denver chapter of Ladies that UX, we create a welcoming space for women in UX to connect, share insights, and support each other. Our meetups range from themed discussions and guest speakers to casual gatherings, always fostering an informal, pressure-free environment. Whether tackling UX challenges or simply sharing experiences over drinks, our goal is to build a strong, inclusive community where designers can learn, grow, and collaborate.
